Cuba Dominates Youth Continental Championship

Cuba's team captured eight gold medals on the final evening of Youth Continental Championship and took first place in the event which was held in the Dominican city of Santiago.

Only Puerto Rico with two gold medals and Ecuador with one prevented Cubans swept through the first 11 places in dispute.

The Cuban Youth World Champion 50 kg, Robeisy Eloy Ramirez, after defeating the Dominican Dagoberto Aguero with a score of 10-4, while at 48 kg, Cuban Yosvany Soto defeated the Guatemalan Mycol Tello 18-3

Cuba also took first place at 52 kilograms by the work of Yunior Boleri Valdez, who beat the Dominican Luis Salazar 10-6, while Hector Cleide Boloy also won over Ecuadorian Anderson Rojas 11-4 at 55 kilos.
In the 51 kg the gold medal went to Puerto Rican Felix Verdejo, after defeating the Brazilian Gilson Barro 3-2, while fellow Puerto Rican Prichard Colon defeated 4-1 The Cuban boxer Samuel Saul Rodriguez, taking first place in 54 kg.
Italoi Perez of Ecuador was the winner of the 81 kilograms with a score of 11-5 over the Cuban Frank Sanchez.
Others gold medalists from Cuba were Dinie Eunice Pero in the 91 kg, Hector Cleide Boloy (55), Duverger Irosvany Aviles (56) and Yunel Saúl Castro Chavez, + 91.

In the championship also participated boxers from Mexico, Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados among others.
