Colombia Boxing Champion in the South American Games
Colombia won four of the 11 gold medals and became champions of the South American Games Boxing.
Venezuela, added three gold medals, while Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador took the remaining three.
In the light flyweight division (48 kilos), the Colombian Arles Contreras took the gold by defeating Ecuador's Carlos Quipo by +5-5 with a point of honor of the judges for its past performance. Although Quipo came close in scoring, only remaining the silver medal.
In the 51 kilos (flyweight), the Colombian Cei Avila also won the gold by defeating the Brazilian Juliao Henriques 13-6. The Argentine Fernando Martinez and Peruvian Luis Caychao shared the bronze.
The gold of the division of light weight (60 kilos) was won by the Colombian Cesar Villarraga after defeating 7-3 Everton Lopes, who was angered by the decision and refused to be taken by the arm at the time of announcing the winner.
the Venezuelan Alfonso Blanco (75 kilos) achieved the gold by winning 4-2 against the Colombian Alex Theran. Jaime Cortes, Ecuador, and Yamaguchi Florentino, Brazil, charged with the bronze.
In the light heavyweight division (81 kilos), Ecuador's Carlos Gongora won gold overcoming the Colombian Roane Angulo 9-1. The bronze went to Brazil's Washington Silva and Argentine Yamil Peralta.
In the biggest bout of the night faded, Jose Payares won the gold by defeating 2-0 to Ecuador Jorge Quiñones. Only in the last two minutes of bout, the Venezuelan was encouraged a bit and that was enough to win. In women boxing, Brazil hung gold in the only three final appearances through Erica Matos in the flyweight, her fellow citizen Adriana Araujo at lightweight and Andreia Bandeira in the 75 kilos.
