Panama took the first place in the boxing tournament of the IX Central American Games

Panama City- Panama boxing team owned the first place in the boxing tournament of the IX Pan American Games which closed on Sunday 19 in Panama City.

Panamanian boxers won 3 gold medals and 5 silver defeating El Salvador that also achieving 3 gold medals, but the Panamanians exceeded the number of silver, because El Salvador only achieved one silver medal. Costa Rica made a huge role and achieved two gold medals as well as Nicaragua, which was the disappointment of the tournament because they were the favorite team in the Central American event.

The Gold medalist form Panama's were Cesar Rivas of 64kgs who defeat Pablo Traña of Nicaragua 16 - 8; Gustavo Caicedo defeat Kelvin Canales of El Salvador by RSC and Ismael Duffus also won by RSC to Jose Moya of Costa Rica.

Gold winners of El Salvador were John Corona 51kgs who won 27- 11 to Bryan Campos of Costa Rica; William Rodriguez in the 54kgs won by points 24- 7 to Felipe de la Flor of Panama and José Bernal of 69kgs won also by points 29-9 to Freizer Araya of Costa Rica.
Other gold medal winners from Costa Rica were David Jimenez 48kgs and Alberto Carvajal, 60kgs. Meanwhile Julio Lagunas 57kgs and Ismael Mendoza +91kgs achieved gold to Nicaragua.

The event was supervised by officials of the AMBC conduced by Jose Vellon of Puerto Rico as Technical Delegate, Dr. Bernaldino Santi of Brazil, Medical Director. Jose Aponte of Puerto Rico, R/J Director. Pasquale Fiacco of Canada, Stan Halminton of USA and Luis Zilikowizc of Argentina were assigned as OTIs.
