Panama, crowned Champion of the Central American boxing Championships 2010

The Panamanian delegation was crowned yesterday in San José, Costa Rica, as a champion team in the XVII Central American Boxing Championship, confirming the supremacy in the area that had been achieved in the last Games held in Panama.

Panama ended with 18 points to claim the first place, while Costa Rica was second with 15 and Nicaragua, the third with 13. El Salvador also finished in fourth place with 13 points, and fifth, Guatemala with only 2 points.

The gold medals of Panama were collected by Bernie Argüelles in 57 kg, Israel Duffus 81 kg and Carlos Moreno 91+ kg.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica ended as runner up to win three of its finalist, thanks to the actions of David Jimenez 48 kg, Jorge Carvajal 60 kg, and Fabian Carvajal 75 kg.

The regional tournament began last Thursday and had the participation of Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica, under the direction of Brazilian Luis Boselli, technical delegate of the American Boxing Federation.
