I would like to begin a new chapter of communication in the
hopes of improving our officiating in the America's. Our
Confederation President Domingo Solano has been kind enough to
allow the Referee & Judges Commission to establish a section of
the
Confederation website to provide important updates. The
objective of the Referee/Judges Commission is to standardize
and unify criteria's in all 42 National Federations in the
America's. As most of you know we have already started down
that road of unifying criteria's. On November 21, 2009 we
conducted a very successful seminar for all Chairman of R/J
Commissions in the America's. Our agenda was very
extensive, covering all of the important aspects of officiating
facing us today. All attendees were provided a R/J Manual and
a CD with everything that was covered in the seminar. We felt
that a seminar of this kind was important because there are so
many changes being handed down by AIBA and we wanted our
continent R/J's to have the most updated materials
available.
One of the biggest changes that we communicated was regarding
the new Stars Program. In the past R/J's were classified as
either Continental or International (AIBA) level. That has
changed, at the seminar we communicated that the Continental level
has been eliminated. Referee/Judges will now be classified as
either AIBA One Star, Two Stars, or Three Stars. At the moment
we are in the process of further clarifying how an R/J becomes
a One Star, how he advances to Two & Three Stars. This will
be communicated in the very near future, stay tuned.
It is important to fully understand this new Star rating program
for R/J's because it will impact how we conduct tournaments in
2010 and in the future. R/J's will only be able to work
tournaments based on their Star rating. For example: Three
Star TournamentsOnly Three Star R/J's will be able to work
tournaments that have 20 or more countries with 150 boxers
participating. This will include all Confederation Championships.
Major World tournaments: Olympic Games, World Championships,
World Cup, President's Cup, Olympic Qualifying Tournaments,
Youth Olympic Games, Pan American Games, etc.
Two Star TournamentsOnly Two Star R/J's will be able to work
tournaments that have 11-19 countries with over 100 boxers
participating. One Star TournamentsThese will include National
Championships, dual matches between two countries or
small multi-level tournaments. Lastly, I would like to say
that I need to start a new way of communicating directly
and separately to all Chairman's of National R/J Commissions.
Therefore, what I need is for each National Federation to
please send me the name of your respective National
R/J Commission Chairman.
In addition, I will need their e-mail address. If your
National Federation or President of the National Federation
would like to be copied on what I communicate to these
Chairman's please send me an e-mail address for that purpose
as well
